Frog Pond

Finally another finish. This is Mill Hill's Frog Pond. I have had this in my stash for a while & it is nice to see if finished. Picture isn't really very good but you get the idea. There is a frog on the bottom right corner. It's another one I have been able to do at work in between stuff!

Why are there so many
Songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side
Rainbow's are visions
They're only illusions
And rainbows have nothing to hide
So we've been told and some chose to
Believe it
But I know they're wrong wait and see

Someday we'll find it

We've been busy playing

It is pretty cool what you can do with big boxes! Well Brandon thinks it is cool anyway! The other day I was trying to think of something to do with all these big boxes we have on hand in the lawnmower shop. Well a cubby house was the logical start. We started off the week with only 1 box & later in the week we put an extension on. It may get bigger later on... We also draw on our boxes to decorate them but you can't tell from the picture.
Brandon found these safety glasses somewhere in the office! He is sitting on one of the ride-on mowers in this picture. Unfortuantely he worked out how to get on the seat this week. So he will sit up in the window & chatter away & wave to people as they go past. I did get a couple of ornaments finished though, inbetween building cubby houses & playing games. Frosty is the last in the series which included Peace, Jingle & some others that I did a while back. Sara Snow is the little lady snowman with her pretty tree. Amazing how some interesting way of doing crosses makes the tree look really fancy, not that you can tell from the picture but it is quite cute! Terrible picture I'm sorry, but again the snowlady is white & glares at the flash.

Footy finals day & I don't really care much. I am looking forward to getting some time at home this afternoon I think. Mum comes out of hospital today so that is great.

I hope your team wins! Mine won't! lol

More ornaments

It's amazing what you can get done when you are waiting around in hospitals! The Santa & the Peace ornaments are both ones I have been able to do the stitching of while waiting this week. The beading I got done in the shop. The Snowman I actually finished last Saturday but haven't done anything about him what with the birthday on Sunday & all. I have a couple of others lined up ready to go. These are nice & transportable when you need something in your bag to do. Just the perfect accessory for waiting anyway!

Building Sandcastles

The second leg of the Amazing Race sent the groups to the beach where they had to spend at least 5 minutes building a sandcastle & then take a picture of their group with it. I still haven't got any more photos on line from other people so we have some of the same people featured as the last lot of pics! Hi Amber!

Will be quiet here for a bit I think as things are going on... But I have been able to stitch a little inbetween all the waiting around that has been going on the last few days...

With a skip on my feet
I play tough as nails
With my heart on my sleeve
I'm nothing but a sandcastle

Our Amazing Race was a success!

Things have been pretty busy here! We were organising a big party for family & friends to help us celebrate our birthdays! Pressure is on when interstate family say they are coming!

A few months ago I came up with the idea of a car rally for it. Then it turned into an Amazing Race version sort of. So I adapted a few things from the show the Amazing Race & put them into our own local version.

We had our party yesterday. We have 28 big people & 6 little people so that was nice considering I didn't think I could ever find that many to come to a party for me! lol We had a total of 10 cars driving around doing it so that was fun to watch!

It included some quiz sections for around our town. Also it included some activities that the participants/contestants had to do. Since my crafting has been on hold the last few days, plus I have a huge head cold I will post a few pics here over the next few days. Each group was asked to take a camera along for a couple of the sections & take pictures as evidence. I hope to get more photos from others over the next few days.

The following photos are from Race leg 7. Leg 6 sent them to our place to find the marked box (proper Amazing Race speak that is!). The marked box consisting of a bucket with balloons tied to it (well it is a party & balloons are obvious aren't they?) had clue 7 in it. It asked that they use what was in the bucket to leave us a message on the driveway. The bucket had pavement chalk in it. They had to use all of the colours in their message. This is where you see who takes notice of what is written. It is easy to see why the teams on the tv show get caught out for not reading clues properly. We weren't quite so harsh on those that didn't follow what the clue said exactly!

Stuart fortunately was able to make it home in time to take these pics of the complete driveway messages. It poured while we were continuing on with the party & by the time we got home just a couple of hours later there wasn't a sign of any of it left!

Stay tuned everyone for some more pictures of the Amazing Race.

Signs of Spring

Here are the last two magnet ornaments from the Mill Hill Spring series that I have been doing. I finished Popcorn yesterday & Banana Split today. They really are cute i think & quick & easy to do inbetween lots of other things. I wouldn't normally bother with the non-Christmas ornament types but I liked all these. Hope you have all enjoyed seeing them as much as I enjoyed stitching them.

One banana, two banana, three banana, four.
Four bananas make a bunch and so do many more.

I just love this backpack. It would be terrific for Brandon. I really have to work up to something like this! I'm sure I could manage it but it looks daunting.

I love to go a-wandering,
Along the mountain track,
And as I go, I love to sing,
My knapsack on my back.

Chorus:

Val-deri,Val-dera,
Val-deri,Val-dera-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha
Val-deri,Val-dera.
My knapsack on my back.

Rachel has joined our family at last

Here she is! Rachel the Rhino. She has taken me a little while as I was busy playing with the bead kits!

The whole family- Phoebe, Ross, Rachel & Hodgie.

I know Rachel is a bit girlie for Brandon but I don't want to make them all in boy colours either, otherwise they will all look quite the same. Plus Rachel is pretty girlie so she needs to look it.

Today is Stuart's birthday. So Happy Birthday to him! I have a lot to do today & this week, to be ready for the birthday party on the weekend. As fun as it is, I will be glad when it is over too. I hope it turns out to be a fun day for everyone.

You say it’s your birthday
Well it’s my birthday too yeah

Gift Time

I'm afraid it is just another Mill Hill ornament called Gift Time. It is pretty rare I think. I found this one on ebay. I had this finished yesterday but finally took a picture in daylight today. I haven't started another one yet, but need to finish my next knitted animal which is waiting patiently, & then am working on a baby sampler as well. Must do that since baby Ruby has arrived now & is waiting for it!

'Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free,
'Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
'Twill be in the valley of love and delight.
When true simplicity is gain'd,
To bow and to bend we shan't be asham'd,
To turn, turn will be our delight,
Till by turning, turning we come out right.

Jingle Kringle

Even with a birthday yesterday I managed to get some stitching done! Yay! That was a lovely birthday treat I must say. This Santa is yet another Mill Hill kit which I got locally only last week. I wasn't going to buy it but they let me have it for half price so I took it. I wouldn't have bothered otherwise as it isn't an ornament but a little box. The box came in the kit too. But it is really nice so I was happy to have it of course. I started the stitching on Wednesday night while everyone else was in bed early. Bonus early birthday treat for me! Hehehehe.... I got the beading finished inbetween other stuff yesterday. So there you go. Jingle Kringle from the Holiday Simple Treasures IV series. Sorry the pic isn't so good but the white & crystal beads glare...

It's official! I'm old!

Yep I am 40 today! Hip hip hooray & all that jazz.

Not a different day however, as it is just the usual stuff, though I have one kid who is coming down with something, one hubby in bed with one of his special colds or whatever. I do have mum's group here today too. So it won't be anything exciting today. I was stitching this morning at 8am which was a real treat. If I go vac now I might get to sit & do a bit more of adding beads to Santa. Yes more Christmas! lol

Let's get the party started!

Since it is birthday season in our house, I decided last night I had better do this Mill Hill Happy Birthday kit. This was a quick one obviously! Thank goodness as the next couple of days will be busy. This kit is in the Spring series with Lemonade, Root Beer Float, Flip Flops & a couple of others that I haven't done yet. I had no intention of doing this one yet but figured why not as now is the time to use it! lol Well almost...

Ok, it is time to go & play!

Believe & be Merry, then drink to it!

Back again on this sunny spring day! I can't believe it is September! It is going to be a busy couple of weeks for us I think. You will have to stay tuned for some reasons why! lol

Anyway I have been stitching a bit as you can see but I just didn't post. I did the cup on the weekend & was intending to take it's picture but it was going to look so lonely. It is Hot Stuff from one of the Autumn Series by Mill Hill. Then on the weekend I started Believe but didn't have enough beads to finish it so I had to wait until my LNS was open today so I could get what I needed to finish it off. Of course I couldn't wait then & had to make a start on Merry which I finished the morning before I finished off Believe. They are pretty cute. There are 6 words in that series. I have done Jingle & Noel last year & still have Peace & Frosty to go. I shouldn't start them yet, though I am very tempted...
When I have my Mill Hills done I trade the charts with people who also like to do them. That is how I have come to have so many. It is a good way to get them. I don't have Noel anymore but if anyone wants to trade the others just let me know!

I believe the sun should never set upon an argument
I believe we place our happiness in other people's hands
I believe that junk food tastes so good because it's bad for you
I believe your parents did the best job they knew how to do
I believe that beauty magazines promote low self esteem
I believe I'm loved when I'm completely by myself alone
