Got Them Swimming

The pool again.  We had some lovely days.  I managed to get them outside in the big pool this time.  Oh the fun times we had as kids out there in the deep end.  They loved it though they got cold quickly of course ...

Oh to be able to jump in too...  but knitting for me.

Fiddling With Scraps

More scraps.  I have made a nice little menagerie of butterflies.  Fabric origami actually.  Used up only a small about on scraps but it is something a bit different & hopefully they are popular at the school fair later on.  Oh the things we do...

A bit more knitting by the sea this time.  Was a cooler day so there was no getting me in anyway.  Getting along with these scrap socks.

Last Socks 2018

Finishing off the year with one last pair of socks for Stuart.  Scrap socks again as they really are fun & a surprise the whole way.

Allsorts

I had a birthday just before Stuart.  Nice & low key as well.

My favourite 86 year old friend made me this bag with some of my favourite fabric at work!  What a great surprise.  It's a fabulous sock project bag.

Someone hunted me down in search of some slippers like the ones they purchased last year at our school fair.  So I gave in & made some in colours requested.  These are really such comfy slippers.  Can't blame them really.  I need new ones next winter.  Will have to decide on a colour eventually.  They will probably be left over colours.

I've been experimenting with some bag patterns & bag stabilisers.  Haven't found a perfect one yet.  In the meantime though I am using stash & I will have an interesting variety of shopping bags!

Perfectly Matching Socks

I seem to have a thing with orange at the moment.  I blame BJ.  I never used to like orange much.  Now I seem to be using it a lot.

Some sample yarn was sent to work.  It's rather exciting when that happens.  It isn't very often that is for sure.

We did order some of the sock wools, which meant for the sake of research, I had to try the Regia Pairfect sock yarn to see how it worked.  Must say it worked out well.  I don't like starting at the cuff normally but had to with these so they worked out like they should.  It was worth it though.

Learning Stripes

I finally got around to making my own striped socks.  Learning the technique of removing the jog (step) when changing colours.  Worked out rather cool!

Birthday Party Socks

I adore these.   The colour is stunning.  But I made them for a non-knitter who loved them too.

Something Different

I branched out a little with these socks.  Couldn't settle into a pattern easily when I started with the yarn but was told about this pattern by my friend Angela.  Started it & it worked out okay & didn't take much thinking.

So much for this yarn being for Stuart.  He's missing out on this pair.

It's Cold

The boys asked for mittens for the mornings.  These fingerless ones work up quite quickly.  They are only miniature really so it wasn't too much of a struggle.  They picked their colours.  Seems DJ has started a trend in his class.

Mixed Up Socks

My third pair of scrap socks.  These are really cool.  Matching but in sort of reverse.

Fancy Schmancy

I have always been trying to challenge myself in my craft.

The latest thing was colourwork in knitting.

I started these socks way back in November, & although they weren't difficult I was not in hurry to work on them.  I think maybe because they were an experiment really & probably wouldn't fit when done was putting me off -  I can't think of any other reason why.

But having one and a bit socks done, I did pick them back up on the weekend & worked on it & magically it took no time at all.  It's so nice to have them done.  They look like pixels really.  Little dots of colour creating patterns but not so very obviously as colourwork usually is.  I just about ruined them trying to finish them off & I don't know if they will last long at all - they may fall to bits yet!  All part of the learning.  I will find & conquer another pair soon I hope!

Stripey Stripes

Having a good week with some long over due finishing!

These socks were started in the school holidays recently & have been my car knitting socks.  It's amazing how much you can do while waiting for school to finish.

Pretty pleased with them all though I was totally over them in the end.

At Long Last

I'm excited to say I have finally used my pretty yarn.

I have had this yarn in my list of things to do for a year or 2 now.

I got started on this jumper about 2 months ago I think.  I'm happy to say I have actually got it finished!  It took some time but it's done.

It's blocked out a little big I think so I will see how it wears but otherwise I will block it again.  Should be warm though when winter hits big time.

Conquered

I had been procrastinating over these socks for a while now.  I did conk out on the sock front after the work window was done.

Then I had school fairs & sickness to deal with so was also in no frame of mind to think on them.

I must have been feeling better this week.  So "Elf in a Blender" socks are finally complete.  My friend called the yarn that.  It has stuck.  We both have our elf socks now, but hers are so different to mine in colour.  But they are fun.

Another Fish Lips Kiss heel.  Not a bad heel.  But I have to wear these ones now to see how I like the fit of it as so far I think I still prefer the fit of the after thought heel.

Holidays

A short spell out of the house on a gorgeous day during the holidays had us at the beach of all places.  This followed from a weekend of snow fall in the highlands of the state!  Crazy that it is, I found myself sitting on the beach with a new sock.

The boys had a bit of a play before some lunch that was meant to be park side, but the wasp population made us think otherwise...

Yarn, Pretty Yarn

At work we got this new range of yarn in.  Funny how I also find it at home then isn't it!

I wound this one & boy it looks so different to the skein in was in.  I picked this out based on colours for a teacher.  Since I am so early, I might change my mind still but in the meantime I had to cast something on too.

After a bit of debate in my head, I settled on a cowl that it knit on the bias.  It's clever.  It's been nice to hang out at home during the holidays with the boys & just sit & play games with them, or keep my girl company too while she is still recovering.

Very Dishy

During March & into April, with so many things going on, I needed some mindless work to play on.  So I pulled out the cotton yarn box.  That was easier said than done.

But I cleaned out a stack or partial balls of yarn.  & used them.  & then used some more!  Hey, I got the lid back on the box & there is a little wiggle room now too!

As a result I have over 20 new dishcloths in my cupboard.  Some really interesting combos of colour.  The boys picked some along the way too.  They enjoy that.  It was good though.

On the days when I couldn't concentrate on the pink jumper these were good.  Also sitting in the car at pick up time after school.

Perfect for mindlessness.

Slowly Slowly

Craft is going slowly.  Bit of knitting yes of course.  But this sort of knitting doesn't happen very quickly for me!  2 x 2 offset ribbing is going to slow me down even more...

Stay tuned.

Time Flies

Well the school fair came & went.

I still haven't taken pictures of all the other things I made.  Tea-towel bags again.  All the other pom pom critters.

It was a soggy wet day though.  We still had a great day with a great atmosphere all around.

All my pom pom rabbits went to new homes.  That was awesome to see.

Did manage to get another of these bulky yarn hats knitted too the other week.  That will do for now, until work sells some.  Guess that it won't be until it's really cold though.

Productive Day

The Rabbits are done!  I have an interesting breed in my garden.  Not angora or anything fancy like that.  I breed acrylic ones!  lol

They have been a work in progress all week as I do pompoms of a night.  But today I just wanted them finished & out of the way.

Another quick beanie too.
