Summer Blues

It's the last day of summer today!  Where did the last 3 months go I wonder?

I will have my summer blues with me all year though as I work on this blanket.

This is the second pattern in the crochet a long.  It took me some time to work on in between all sorts of other things this week.  Couldn't really settle to it but forced myself to finish it off yesterday.  So this is Mendocino.

New Crochet

Once again this year I am running a crochet a long on Ravelry.  This is the first square.  I forgot to post last week.  So here it is.  My new colours are growing on me.  I also have red but didn't use it here & it looks like I won't be using it in the next square either so maybe I won't be using red after all.

Shop Knitting

I have managed to knit another piece for work this week.  It's a Sirdar pattern again  - 1929 & is using Cascade Pacific Color Wave yarn.  I quite like how it turned out.  This is a bit thicker than an 8ply so making the sizing a little bigger but I find all Sirdar patterns are small sizes anyway.  Really like how the back came up in this though.  Shows off the colour changes quite well.

New Experiences

A party today for BJ held at the local water slide.  Lots of fun to be had.  But for BJ it was a new experience.  Stuart was along to go down with him but he was brave & didn't need Dad at all.  DJ was there with mum to watch the action & take some pictures.  The mum of the party boy asked if DJ wanted to go on it.  Of course he said YES!   So Stuart didn't get out of it after all.  They had a good time.

I started this little jacket/cardigan a couple of weeks ago at work.  It had been so very quiet so I got to do this which is  a first!   Very happy too though.  It's a Sirdar pattern we sell along with Cascade Bentley yarn.  It was lovely to work with.  It's a sample for at work.  Last week I took it with me to lunch with my knitting friends as it was easier to work on while talking.  Since I have finished my own cardigan I just finished up this one this week.  Was a nice little piece & looks really cute!  Hope it does it's job at work in selling lots of the yarn.  It's so nice!

I Actually Did IT!

Do you remember the funny bits of blue knitting that I was fighting with a couple of weeks ago?

Well here they are, all put together in one piece.  There has been nothing to show really as I have just been going back & forth down the length of the body.

But it's finished.  I have done it!  I got if finished on the weekend.  It was an interesting piece that I can say I actually managed.

Not entirely sure about how it looks.  It still seems a bit small & I hope if I get the courage to wear it that it stretches a bit more.  I did block it out quite a bit but it isn't enough.   I did what I thought was a generous size but hmmm...  it needed more...  I like a bit more positive ease in the fit of my clothing.  Anyway, it's done.  The 3 ladies today told me it looks great on, so that was a bit better.  I was doubting after these pictures.

I can't wear it quite yet as it's still a bit warm.  But come Autumn & it may just get to come out of the cupboard.

I do feel quite clever though having got the scary pattern done!

Holiday Finale

Last weekend of the holidays & we had a bit of a day out planned with Stuart's family.
A train ride first up.  DJ not sure about this at  all & didn't let go of dad the whole way.
A swim at the beach followed by a picnic & then back the other way for the return train ride.
A great day that was "Totally Awesome" as BJ said when getting off at the end!
