WIP Wednesday

What a week!  & it's only Wednesday!

I don't know who is more exhausted?  The boys or I?  I could just go curl up in bed right now!  But no chance of that happening as we still have school this afternoon.  Tomorrow we can do nothing...  I think.  I had better check the calendar.  I think tomorrow is blank.  Fingers crossed it is!

Yesterday was a huge day for all of us. We had an early drop off of the boys to the grandparents where they spent the day, while Stuart & I drove for 3.5 hrs to see someone.  OK, so I got to knit all the way there.  Job done & was a good time to go & spoil myself at the local wool shop!  Very excited!  I spent an hour there.  Fortunately Stuart & I are happy to meet up later & shop where we want to for a bit.  So I could browse all I liked among the wide range of yarns that I don't normally get to see.  I even treated myself to a couple!  So excited!

But then another 3.5 hrs drive home.  OK, another 3.5 hrs to knit.  I got a lot done on the back of my cardi! Will see what I can fit in later today!  Quite enjoying it so far & I love the cotton!

Linking up with WIP Wednesday!  Say hi if you are visiting through here won't you?

& wow!  This is the last day of Blogtoberfest!  & I did it!  I actually managed to blog everyday!  Amazing!  I think I will conk out tomorrow!  Thanks to the host of this one!  It's been a fun ride!  Thanks for visiting me during the month!

This Quilt Book Is A Must Have

Bright & Bold Cozy Modern Quilts

Lucky you if you have this book already.  I just discovered it today at work when I unpacked it.  I did manage a minute to look through it too which was impressive in a crazy day...  It really is good though.  I couldn't believe the simplicity in some of the designs.  I have a couple of ranges of fabric that I am looking for the perfect pattern for.

But is there a perfect pattern?  It is what you make it isn't it?  Some people can see a quilt in chosen fabrics so easily.  Others can only see it in the colours that are presented to them in the pattern.  I think that would be difficult to not be able to see past what is in front of you.  I am amazed at customers sometimes when they need what is there in the book or even on display with samples we have in the shop of different things.  It becomes a problem too when all those craft magazines out these days keep turning up with a customer & they want the fabric that is in the magazine so they can recreate that quilt exactly.  Unfortunately it usually turns out that the magazine is a few years old.  That means the likelihood of finding said fabric is really slim.  I think we can be a bit behind the times where fabric is concerned in these parts but it is funny as the customers are even further behind it seems.

In any case, I think I have found the perfect book with a couple of patterns that I can certainly envisage for some funky orange, pink & white fabric that I have.  The patterns are really easy to follow with great cutting guides, block assembly & quilt top assembly.  In fact it was so easy that the patterns usually only were on 2 pages!  & that was with good pictures in it too!  Well, this is definitely one for my wishlist.  Do you have this book?  Which one have you made from it?

Yay - Hat Success

I had to try that hat again didn't I?  Of course!  So after the small size on Saturday that was way too small I did the biggest size of the Oliver + S pattern yesterday. It fits!  I wasn't too fussed with fabric - this cute frog one "Gone Fishing", was out of the cupboard first.  I just happened to have some plain blue that I got at work on Friday with the intention of using it for a hat for me!  But it worked as the inside of this one so I went with it.  I can get more of course if I need it!  lol

DJ seems kind of happy about his hat.  Maybe he didn't like being out on the deck at 7.15am for a photo this morning!

Can you believe we are in the last quarter?  Scary isn't it!  So let's make it fun!  Playing along with Blogtoberfest this year!  Should be a fine challenge!

Check out my give away here too...
