Camping - 5

Lots of fun times for the boys around camp.  They made friends with a lot of other children.  We had a few in & out of our caravan.  It's good fun watching them out & about & not worrying about us, what we are doing or where we are.  We were parked outside our van having "Happy Afternoon".  They knew where we were if they needed us.  They had a great time & we had a great time watching them have a great time.  They eventually conked out each night after needing to be scrubbed clean though!

Camping - York Town

We were staying not far from this place.  It was a "historic site" sign posted along the way.   BJ knew about York Town from his history lessons last year apparently.  So we went for a look, & the walk around the site.  Who know that this could have been where Launceston could have ended up being settled around.

We had to imagine the convicts & other people around the area, but we didn't need to imagine a soldier as we came across one.

The boys wouldn't believe us I don't think when we said this is the size of the house a whole family would have lived in!

Camping - Platypus House

Right by Seahorse World was Platypus House.  I was again surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

Information at the start about both the platypus & echidnas.  Boys were quite fascinated by the skeletons & bodies.

Jupiter was swimming around for us, being fed lots of bug bits!   He came up on deck though & looked about at everyone.

Walking through the echidna room was cool.  They had a bite to eat.  One was sleeping & wouldn't come out for any thing!  But these 2 wandered about.  One went between my feet!  Once again, DJ wasn't getting too close to these odd things.

Camping - Seahorse World

We had a lovely visit to Seahorse World.  It's actually a "farm" where they breed them.  Very interesting to see them at different stages.  Very interesting to hear about them.  They are odd little things.

These were only about a day old.  Tiny black wormy looking things.

These were also in the "nursery" area.  Loads of them, all tangled up & just funny to watch.

They listened well to the guide.

There were some things we could touch.  DJ held a starfish, but wouldn't go for the crab or seahorse!  Very excited to hold a seahorse myself!  Weird little things!

This is a Sea Dragon.  Kind of like a hairier seahorse!  lol

It's a wonder there aren't more seahorse deaths.  They grab hold of each other all the time.  They just tangle themselves up in each other.  Was funny watching them try to free themselves.  But I guess it is just a constant thing for them & their tails!

A very enjoyable & interesting visit.

Camping - 1

It was nice to return for a few days to what is a favourite place.  Not that the boys know much different but they have wanted to go back here all year.  So we did.  We love it.

Our on-site van - perfect!

Games together - our favourite card game Sleeping Queens.

The boys made friends quickly.  BJ got to have a go of another boys remote control car.

We brought the bikes again plus one for us & we did have a bit of a ride around the park.

The bouncy pillow is the favourite of DJ's.  They both spent a lot of time on here & got incredibly dirty in doing so!  lol

My favourite friends were there too.  Though this year they weren't wandering quite so far as previously.  It wasn't as dry this time so they didn't need the water at the water tank I guess.  They stayed back out of the way.  They ground was still noticeably wet underneath & some of the tent camp area was cordoned off so cars couldn't get bogged in it.  Although it looked OK.  We did notice it riding around the park on the bikes over the grass.  It made it slow & harder going.

More Shorts

Ok, so I did a second pair for DJ but oh dear, it wasn't the right fabric choice.  Soooooo....

He wanted the crash boom bang one....  But I only did that in small pieces & I fussy cut & fussy folded so I had none of the OMG showing at all.

BJ is wearing the other Pokemon for pjs so I have made him shorts with contrasts.  They are happy now & I can put that stuff away.  We are ready for camping...

New Year, New Pants

I finally got to Spotlight to hunt for Pokemon fabric yesterday.  There's a sale on fabric so I had to try.  So I came home with a bit more than just the Pokemon fabric I did find.  So took to the short pattern I had used previously.  Had to upsize the pattern since they are getting bigger.  Started off measuring on BJ.  But well, the size 3 fit him all around quite well except in the crotch.  So DJ scored on the first pair.

The second pair then I added 1.5 inches to the top.  I dug a fat quarter out of my stash that would work so we had a bit of variety in case DJ ended up with all of them.  Mini dinosaurs it was.  I even added the pockets as that used up pretty much most of the fat quarter then!  Yay for using stash!  Ok, these fit better.  Yay!

So on to the Pokemon fabric.  No cuffs on this one so just add to the top, add some to the bottom to count in the cuffs & voila, another pair of pants.  I think he will end up wearing these as pyjama pants though.  He actually said when I gave them to him that they look like pjs.  OK, so you can wear them for what you prefer.  At least he has his Pokemon fabric in something.

So, he's wearing those as pjs & I have to make some like the dinos but using the pokemon & in reverse!  Thank goodness for that black homespun!  You know those first 2 pairs of shorts wouldn't have cost me more than $3 a pair!  Bargain!  & they fit them too!
