Elf At Play

Day 6
Hot air balloon ride using DJ's fish lantern thing that he made at school a while ago.

Day 7
Races in the lounge with the animals.

Day 8
They were hungry apparently.  So they took the mini m&ms out of the boys Advent calendars.  We'll see if they get replaced or not.  It won't be with more m&ms anyway!

Day 9
Toasting marshmallows.  Douglas used DJ's volcano that he had made at school.  They had a lot of dinosaur play this term with all sorts of cool things to do with dinos & so the volcano was a handy choice for cooking the marshmallows.  (the next day DJ wanted to eat them... he told Stuart he wanted a hot one!  bwahahahaha  )

Day 10
The boys love experiments & anything like that.  Doug & Maggie started an experiment to make ice crystals.  They wrote a note to let the boys try too with instructions.  Lucky for us they left all the required things to try it ourselves so the morning was spent putting that together & now we can watch what happens over the weekend.  The bottom picture is what Maggie & Douglas did overnight!  Came up well. Clever little things they are!

Edited to add - Borax is suddenly hard to get in Australia.  No one sells it now except for an agriculture/garden/farm goods store.  The stuff they sold wasn't 100% borax as it turned out so it took a lot more & a lot longer to get the results that we were finally able to try again.

Even Quicker Socks!

No sooner had I cast off the socks on Saturday & I had these started.  I decided last week I needed a couple of pairs for Christmas gifts.  So here's the first pair.   Yarn is Crazy Zauberball.  They are good fun.  But I an not used to knitting with dark yarn that is for sure.

Gifts

This is a set of 4 placemats.  An order for someone.  Just pleased to have them finished on time.  Some very classic French General fabric which seems yo suit a lot of people.

The Elf Came Back!

Day 1
Douglas returned with his friend Maggie.  So excited to have a reindeer come to stay too.

Day 2
A game of "Pop To The Shops".   We love this game.  This lot however, substituted the grocery cards for real things from out of the pantry.  Plus, they have been playing with the printer.  They made up the moving markers with images of themselves on them.  The boys were suitably impressed.

Day 3
Today we had new pjs delivered for each of the boys.  They were rather rapt.  Ooops though, we had forgotten to feed Maggie.  She was into the oats.

Day 4
Poor Maggie...  Douglas put her on the crane & left her sky high all day.

Day 5
The boys had left the crayons & textas out.  So they both drew each other - sort of...

Quick Socks

These were a nice quick knit for the last couple of weeks.  After the last pair of socks that took an age I wanted a quick play with the yarn.  This is one of my favourite yarn brands, Cascade Heritage Paints.  So lush on your feet.  So new socks for next winter already!  Woohoo...
