BJ - spider man again, different park , different week!  Dad took them out after a lot of home time.  Weather was lovely!

This Is Getting Boring

Probably looking very boring right now but just another 2 squares from the last few days.  Some more rotten weather, some more time inside, some more crochet.

Little Holiday Pottering

It's school holidays here.  We have been spending time at home.  It was so beneficial last holidays for all of us, BJ especially.  We haven't been rushing off any where much when we haven't had too.  Ditching that complete rushing to get dressed & out the door moment.  I love it!  The weather has also been rubbish but it is winter remember, so it's to be expected.  But it's been good to stay in & snuggle, with a movie, or Lego play or games.  It's all good!  

Having finished the jumper the other week I have needed something just simple to potter along with before I start on any other big project.  So I am just having a little play.  

This square was the latest in the crochet along.  It was one I had done a year or so back & I do like it.  It's a nice three dimensional flower.  Crocodile Stitch Dahlia to be exact.  

It's been such a long time since I have spent a bit of time on squares.  I know last year I never finished the squares we had in the CAL.  This is one from last year.  The Hexagon Hotpad is quite nice.  Yes the picture is really wavy & all.  It's so not flat!  It is also a little big so I didn't even do the last round of the pattern.  I had to do up to where I did get to to square it up though.  (not that it is very).  lol  It's a nice square though very fiddly with the 7 hexagons which means an awful lot of ends, plus their joining.  But I've done it now.  Once is enough me thinks.  I don't know if he will end up in the blanket but will see how we go.  I have 20 squares in this colourway.  I know cos BJ & I had a little time this morning setting them out.  So I need a few more for a decent size lap throw.  I will see how much yarn I have left, so maybe 5 more or maybe 9 more.  I still need to decide what colour to join them with.  Hard decision that one.  What do you think?

Finally got the boys out of the house after the cold & wet days, for some outside play.  Was soooooo cold though.  Icy cold.  Sunny & blue but boy I was cold.  Have a runny nose now as I sure couldn't get warm all day after that!  brrrr.....

My Big Boy

Here it is at last.  My finished jumper for BJ.  I finally got the sleeves on.  Took a week to knit the first one due to crazy times that wouldn't allow me to sit & knit.  The second sleeve was done in a day!  I really enjoyed it & really love the colour on him.  It will also look good on DJ later on.  Pity it isn't big enough for me as it's also my colour!  lol  

Must knit a different colour for them next time.  Seems I only ever knit blue.

BJ - an awesome last lesson of swimming to end the terms swimming lessons.  Some special praise from swim instructors.  You've done such an awesome job.  So confident now!  Miracles happen!

DJ - still playing with your new Lego.  Doing lots of play acting with them- noises & action!  Fun to see you play acting...

Another Birthday

 DJ is 3!  Yep already.  Goodness... that time has passed by quickly.  We had a nice day.  

I spent quite a bit of the time building legos.  He loves them.  Lots of action going on with the lego people that's for sure.  

I promised him a visit to the local strawberry farm.  Unfortunately it's the wrong time of year for them really but since it was DJ's birthday the very kind lady gave him a punnet & told him he could go & pick a few.  They weren't very good, but he had a great time & then scoffed them all very quickly, along with his new friend Buzz Lightyear.  

We did go there in strawberry season & he ate a huge amount.  Definitely his favourite.  All he wanted to eat on his birthday was strawberries & cake!  lol  

So we come to the cake.  I was rapt to find the instructions for the Kwazii cake online.  Made it easier.  It was still fiddly but boy it wasn't really difficult.  Probably the worst thing was drawing the badge.  I can't draw.  Harder when you can't rest your hand to do it.  DJ is happy with it all though & that's the important thing.  

It was a surprise though this cute little cake.  We only have the 5 grandparents coming over for a get together for his birthday.  So my little surprise was the inside.  DJ wanted chocolate on his cake.  Well I couldn't put any on, so I thought I had better put it in!  

We aren't having a party as such with friends as well, he's only 3 so who cares.  Instead we have a boy from his day care coming for a play plus a boy from school pick up who he plays with a lot there.  He will be at school with the second one in 2 years.  So just a play time for the boys on Saturday.  Since BJ's birthday last month, DJ has more clue about different things that go on with parties.  He was rapt with his party bag at that time & it was the cause of many sleepless nights.  Yep, he had to cart that jolly thing around in the middle of the night last month.  Hopefully we don't have the same problem with this one.  Anyway, he has an Octonauts bag for his 2 friends & brother (brother is getting another Ninjago dvd though).  Another DVD but I still find that better value than all the party bag toys that are out there.  I was looking at different things but it was still going to cost a bomb.  Nope, DVD all the way.  

Did quite well too really, as the bags were still left in the party box from BJ's party last year.  The lolly packets were left over from BJ's party bags.  They were bulk bags from the supermarket.  The Octonauts pictures are printables online.  Magic!   One happy newly 3 year old!
