Fiddling With Scraps

More scraps.  I have made a nice little menagerie of butterflies.  Fabric origami actually.  Used up only a small about on scraps but it is something a bit different & hopefully they are popular at the school fair later on.  Oh the things we do...

A bit more knitting by the sea this time.  Was a cooler day so there was no getting me in anyway.  Getting along with these scrap socks.

Summer Holidays

Summer days are lazy days.  We had a pretty chilled time.

Working on scrunchies!  I discovered that scrunchies are back in fashion.  So with that I was all over the fabric scraps & experimenting with assembly & sizing for good scrunchies for our school fair in March.

Pool days = knitting time.
Scrap socks helical style...  Making a small dent in the scrap pile.  These are cool.

It's All About Handmade

So I find myself as the organiser of the craft stall at next year's school fair.  Can't say I was surprised.  lol

As a result I have been op shopping & sewing up a storm...  I have a good bag full of finished object already so I am really pleased about that.

Peg bag aprons, all from op shop fabric & a really nice table cloth.  Yay!  Such fun.

Keyring fobs, just for something a bit different & I got the keyring bits a couple of years ago & still hadn't used them.  Perfect!

Another birthday party for both boys this week too.  I was so excited to find this dinosaur panel.  For a 10 year old it is a lot better than the cartoon type designs that start to look too babyish.  So I cut it up & voila, one awesome pillow.  (he was rapt with it too thank goodness!)

& that is Pillow present #20...  Not too bad for 20 gifts over the last 2 years.

Science Week

Science week has been a big deal at school this week.  There was even an expo held with all the schools science work on display for everyone to visit.  It was really good.  Very well done on the part of all the teachers.

Months ago however, BJ was working on a writing piece for a competition as it turns out.  It was a statewide competition writing something about "Drones, Droids & Robots".  That was the theme I think & they even had some drone experts come to school to talk & demonstrate a drone!  How cool!
Anyway, turns out BJ got an encouragement award in that writing comp.  We were pretty stoked for him.

The Kinder class even had some work on show & some hands on experimenting that people could try.  Robots were fairly big throughout the year & DJ had a picture of his on the wall.

Spotted another piece of his under the "How Things Move" section.

It was all very cool.  Such interesting things to do in class.  Lucky them.  It seems like a lot of fun.
