Elf Antics

4th - Douglas pulled tinsel up from the tree & fixed it high!  Looked odd.  But he was quite pleased with himself.

5th - Playing with Lego.  Being a rather large pirate!

6th -  Douglas has been to Kmart & taken a couple of tags from the Wishing Tree.  He left a note to explain & also left some money for the boys to go buy gifts for some other boys their ages.  Best one ever...  we are so blessed with what we have...

7th - Douglas is spending a lot of time playing of a night.  The toys are enjoying the celebrity in our house. Caterpillar maybe not so much.  Poor guy lugging this lot around...

Sew Over Excited?

So I'm addicted to table runners right now.  This one I made up.  I really liked the colouring for someone as a gift.  Had a couple of other colours but ended up scrapping those from this one & went with the simple 2 tones.  I feel quite clever & really like how it came out.  (need to baste & finish off of course...)

Then...  after the one above in the newest French General fabrics, we got the Moda Candy in at work on Friday.  So I got a couple & a little bit more light.  I was then able to use the 2 fabrics that I didn't use in the one above.  One is the red I have bordered this with & the other will be the binding.  Not sure which one I am giving as the gift now.  I will wait to see if I wreck either of them in the quilting & finishing off process.  Then make a decision based on that.   Oh & this one was a free pattern from the Moda Bakeshop!  Such a lot of good ideas in there.

A little fun today too as recently our neighbours cut down some Very LARGE trees.  They have created 3 snowmen out the front this week & today were dressing them up.  Our boys got to put their tinsel scarves on them all.  They aren't quite finished in this as they have since had their faces done, arms attached & buttons added.  They look terrific!  Oh & they have some lights attached too so blink all night.  Such fun for kids!

The Return Of The Elf

December arrived in fine style once more...  Douglas our family elf arrived in the pouring rain...  Poor guy.  Anyway he's settled in once more...

1st - Douglas arrived with parcels & a letter with news from the North Pole that there was a problem in the factory so Santa wouldn't have time to drop the pyjamas later in the month like he usually does. It was pouring that night...  we were grateful for the rain, but Douglas got rather wet it seems.  The table was covered in rain.   The name tags on their parcels were all smudged too.  lol

2nd - After all that rain, poor Douglas had a cold the next night.  Poor little dude, but he spent the day under his crocheted blanket & he came good.

3rd - He got his crafty on!  He raided the craft cupboard for coloured paper.  (glad there is a stash of such things just for when the elf comes to visit!)    He has nicely decorated the fridge!  Looks pretty cool really.  He did a great job & the boys loved it!  Looks like the snowman fridge will be here all December.

Scrap Play

Been having a play today.  I need to keep of Pinterest again.

But I also have been rifling through the scrap box for the applique pieces for the mug rugs & have got annoyed at the pile of fabric in there.  So I decided to have a bash at this.  I have cut out copy paper to 8" squares & then sewn over the top with random width strips.  It's worked out quite well & made a lot of squares, but has not made much of a dent in the scrap box.  I think I will get at least two single bed size quilts out of the strips I have pulled out ready to sew more.

Tell me though - would you sew them as is or add a thin black line between them all?  I have decided which way I will do these (eventually) but wondering how you would finish it off!

Oh Deer!

Sneak peak of another couple of mug rugs.  Pretty cute!  It's been fun playing with these & playing with fabric bits.

Stuck until work on Friday again as I need to pick some bits to finish off...
